Hi friend, welcome to Week 2 of our series Unshakable. Today, let’s chat about God’s promises to us. Grab something cozy to drink and settle in with me!
The Bible is packed with God’s promises for us. There are 7,487 of them specifically made for mankind. So, it’s safe to say I don’t know them all, let alone the context that goes with them. This week I found myself getting overwhelmed while applying scripture to my prayer life. I got into my head and started second-guessing if I was using the scripture correctly. But then I remembered the heart of God’s promises never change. They are timeless.
So friend, if you feel or ever felt that way, you can be encouraged knowing His promises meet us right where we are. Psalm 33:11 says, “The plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations.” And Hebrews 13:8 reminds us, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
Honestly, sometimes I feel a little overwhelmed. I haven’t read the entire Bible, I don’t know every story, and I certainly don’t know every bit of context. But God’s love, guidance, and protection? That doesn’t change. His promises are for me—and for you—today.
Not knowing everything is okay. God isn’t asking us to have a PhD in theology to come to Him. We can open His Word, pray it back to Him, and ask, “God, what does this mean for my life today?” That simple act has strengthened my faith more than I expected this week and reminded me just how personal and alive God’s Word is (Psalm 119:105).
Why Pray Scripture?

Praying scripture is like reading God’s love note back to Him. Imagine He handed you a little note that said, “I love you, I will take care of you, and I will help you.” That note is precious because it’s from Him—and always true. When we pray scripture, we’re saying, “I believe You, God. I trust You. I want to follow You.”
The Bible is packed with promises that build our faith and trust. When we pray them, we anchor ourselves in God’s unchanging truth. It reminds us of His mercy, faithfulness, goodness, and love (Psalm 23:1-3, Isaiah 41:10).
And the best part? When you don’t know what to say, scripture gives you the words. There’s almost always a verse for what you’re feeling.
How to Pray Scripture

- Pick a verse that speaks to what you’re facing right now.
- Need comfort? Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
- Need strength? Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”
- Need comfort? Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
- Read it slowly—out loud if you like. Let it sink in.
- Talk to God honestly. Thank Him for His promises.
- Example: “God, I believe You are my helper today. Thank You for giving me strength.”
- Example: “God, I believe You are my helper today. Thank You for giving me strength.”
- Ask Him how it applies to your life.
- “God, show me how this promise is true for me today.”
- “God, show me how this promise is true for me today.”
- Make it your own. Add your own words, hum it, sing it, write it—whatever helps you delight in Him.
- Believe and trust. God hears you. He will act, even if you don’t see it immediately (Romans 8:26-27).
Even if you don’t know the whole Bible or understand every detail, God knows your heart. When you pray His Word, He listens and helps you believe it in your life.
Here’s a really great video that explains this perfectly.
