Hello friend, and welcome back to our 6-week series: Unshakable – The Praying In Agreement! So grab something cozy to sip on and let’s chat. I’m savoring a lovely iced espresso latte with a hint of brown sugar. It’s my favorite and so simple.
It’s a beautiful fall day, and by beautiful, I mean gloomy, and it’s been raining on and off all day, which I absolutely adore. I’m wearing my comfiest sweatshirt and sweats, and I am living the dream right now. I’m settled in front of my office window, watching the leaves slowly detaching and falling from the trees. God, thank you for this day! Alright, enough about me, let’s get into praying in agreement!
SCRIPTURES OF THE WEEK
Matthew 18:19 Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.
Acts 4:24-31 When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. “Sovereign Lord,” they said, “you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them. You spoke by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of your servant, our father David: “‘ Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed one.’ Indeed, Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed. They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen. Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

WHAT IS THE PRAYER OF AGREEMENT
The prayer of agreement is a Christian prayer practice where two or more believers pray for the same thing, based on Jesus’ promise in Matthew 18:19 (above). In this scripture, Jesus himself tells us that when believers come together in unity to pray, it creates a multiplication of faith and releases God’s power. Jesus didn’t say it might be done, or it’s possible; he said it will be done by His Father in heaven. Let’s take him at his word!
HOW DOES THE PRAYER OF AGREEMENT WORK
According to Jesus, there must be two of you, and you need to be on earth. That means that you and I qualify for this promise. Acts 4 is the fulfillment of Jesus’ promise in Matthew. Believers raised their voices together in prayer to God, seeking God’s will to be done. They didn’t just pray their feelings; they agreed in Scripture and quoted Psalm 2, stating that what was happening was part of God’s divine plan. Praying in agreement is not about agreeing with each other as we pray; it’s about agreeing with what God has already said in His word. It’s so important that we get familiar with scripture, knowing God’s promises so much so it is like they are tattooed on our hearts.
The prayer that the early church spoke out wasn’t self-focused; they were on a united mission to glorify Jesus. So praying in true agreement isn’t about us getting God to do what we want; it’s about joining together for His glory and will to be done.
I love this verse: After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
When believers come together in faith and agreement aligned with God’s will, God shows up!
Let’s believe that God means what he says and come together in agreement and watch Him move! Maybe the ground won’t shake, but I have faith that He’ll move some mountains in our lives.

PRAYING IN AGREEMENT OVERVIEW
Find one or more believers and come together in Unity
- Agree on God’s word: Base your prayer on Scripture, like we talked about in Week 2
- Pray with one voice, lifting your hearts together and focusing on the same need or purpose of your prayer.
- Ask for God’s will, not your own, by seeking His glory and guidance and trusting His perfect plan.
- Believe and Expect by standing in faith, knowing that where two or more agree in His name, He is present and powerful, and it will be done for you. He said so himself!

THE CHALLANGE
This week, I challenge you to find one or two people to pray with. Perhaps your friend, spouse, a small group (if you’re not in one, I highly recommend it!), or me! You can message me, and I will do it with you. Email or Instagram me @RusticLoveAbode, and let’s come together in agreement and watch him move. Remember, come together, pray His word, not just your worries, speak His promises over the situation, and believe he hears you because HE DOES! It says so in his word!
When we unite our voices in faith, just like the early believers in Acts 4, the Holy Spirit moves in powerful ways. Let’s not second-guess what God can do when we come into harmony with heaven. I’d love to hear how God moved for you this week or what you need prayer for, either in the comments below or by using #UnshakablePrayer on Instagram.
Join me back here next Monday for Unshakable Week 5: Standing Against the Enemy.
