Two things I can’t live without are coffee and yoga! The latter of which I completed before heading down to make my morning coffee (aka my DIY collagen latte) which I am currently enjoying as I type this.
This is my kind of morning. A nice relaxed start to what will surely be a crazy busy non-stop day. I have a lot of those and that’s the way I like it.
I have been drinking my DIY collagen lattes for years now and I don’t see them fading from my routine any time soon. It’s warm, creamy, sweet, and good for the soul coffee.
I make mine using my Keurig that the Mr. gave me as a Mother’s Day gift. (I’ll link up all of the items below if you are in the market.) It looks darling on the counter and it makes some really tasty coffee. What I love most about it is that it’s not intimidating like some machines that I have seen and I totally feel like my own little barista.
All I do is brew up a cup of whatever kind of coffee I have on hand. Then in the little frother, I add almond milk, a splash of creamer (whatever I have on hand, today is almond milk caramel creamer) and 1 scoop of my collagen peptides. It is SO good. If you don’t have a frother you can put all of the ingredients in your blender for a few seconds. I have a ninja one that I use almost daily for one reason or another and it does a great job of making my coffee frothy as well.
If you’re feeling extra frothy – you can add a little coconut oil in there and prepare to be amazed. About a teaspoon will do the trick.
I’ve also made this with Great lakes but lately, I have been using Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides in the coconut flavored and I love the sweetness it adds. It’s just enough and doesn’t have a strong artificially sweetened taste like some things. If you are using unflavored I would add more than a splash of the creamer to your froth mix depending on how sweet you like your coffee.
Some of you may be wondering what in the world are Collagen Peptides?
They are a versatile source of protein and an important element of healthy nutrition. A major benefit of taking Collagen Peptides versus collagen is that it is more bioavailable meaning they are absorbed by the body quickly to offer maximum benefits.
I am here for all of the above!
I have noticed a big difference in the strength of my nails, and they grow very fast. I find myself filing them down all the time which never used to be the case. Now that I think about it I have had to put nail files all over the house so I can file at my leisure. Not only are they good for cosmetic reasons (skin, hair, etc.) I’ve heard that it also helps promote healthy gut, bones, and joints. I also revel in the fact that I start my body off with a delicious protein source in my coffee! That’s a win for me.
Try it out and let me know what you think and feel free to add in or top with any other ingredients below the “recipe” if we can call it that. 😉
My Can’t Live without diy collagen Latte Recipe
- 8 Oz. Cup of Coffee
- 1/3 cup of almond milk (If using the frother on my Keurig, I pour in my almond milk until just under the latte line leaving a little room for whatever creamer I will be adding.)
- Splash of Coffee Creamer
- 1 Scoop of Collagen Peptides (I love to use Vital Proteins flavored)
Directions:
Brew yourself a cup of coffee. Pour in everything but the coffee into your frother or your blender. If using your frother hit the latte button and let it do its thing. If using the blender, blend it for 5-10 seconds or until there is a frothy layer on top. Once the froth is complete, slowly pour it into your coffee and enjoy your very own DIY Collagen Latte!
Additional Toppings:
- Cocoa Powder
- Cinnamon or Ceylon Cinnamon
- Maca Powder
- Pumpkin Spice
