Hello, my cozy lovers!
We were blessed with our first snow of the season! All-day it has been coming down in spurts. Nothing is sticking but excitement is in the air. To celebrate, Austin and I built a fire and put on a movie! I told him he could have some hot cocoa but he forgot about it and I am not going to remind him.
Yesterday I placed a huge grocery order and have completely stocked up my refrigerator, freezer, and pantry. It was delivered this morning and I spent some time organizing and putting things in place. I had some big goals of scratch baking all kinds of things for the rest of the day, and so far only a few of those happened but that’s ok. I tend to over-plan my days and that is something I am working on. Anyway, I did make some dough for pull-apart dinner rolls and the best chewy chocolate chip cookies ever!
The cookies need to chill for at least 2-3 hours so they are in the refrigerator and the rolls are rising on the stove next to the most delightful stovetop potpourri I threw together. It’s been a busy and productive morning and I am taking a rest on the couch with my two dogs curled up next to me while I enjoy the crackling of the fire and Gilmore Girls on the TV. It’s very cozy in our home today and I am loving every moment of it. I had a tooth pulled a couple of days ago and it’s still pretty painful and swollen so I am happy to take it easy for the rest of the day. You might just find me here sipping on tea for the unforeseeable future. 🙂
I did come on to share some goodies with you today! First I just want to say I have finally found the best recipe for chewy chocolate chip cookies. The recipe calls for regular all-purpose flour but I substituted cup 4 cup gluten-free flour and they came out perfectly. Even the Mr. had no idea that they were gluten-free until I told him and he was amazed. I am so excited to try another batch. I am testing out a different flour blend today and I’ll be sure to post the update on how they came out once I enjoy them. Here’s the recipe. Let me know if you try them!
My home smells so cozy right now with my stovetop potpourri simmering away. It was so simple and unbelievably fragrant. I am going to be playing with recipes all season long! Here’s what I threw on today. The picture above was taken after hours and hours of simmering.
Fall Stovetop potpourri recipe
1 Sliced green apple
3 Cinnamon Sticks
8 Whole Cloves
1 T. Vanilla
Water
Throw all of the ingredients in a pot and let it simmer all day long! Don’t boil it, just let it simmer. If you like cinnamon you are going to love this! Also, you can just use the apple peels if you wish to eat the apple. I have a bounty of apples so I just used the whole thing.
I am going to go enjoy an episode of the Gilmore Girls now while I ice my face. I’m so thankful to be home to enjoy this snowy day. Hope you all have a warm and cozy rest of your day, night, or whenever you are reading this!
Let me know if you try the cookies, and if you have any potpourri recipes I need to try.
Bye!
Lisa
