Have you ever heard someone say, “I shared the Gospel with her,” or “I told him the Good News about Jesus,” and wondered, what does that even mean?
You’re not alone! When I first became a Christian, I had no idea what “the Gospel” really meant—let alone how to explain it to someone else.
So let’s break it down together. Whether you’re a new believer or simply curious, this post will help you clearly understand the Gospel message and how to share it confidently with others – and it even includes a free printable to help you remember and pass it on!
What Is the Gospel?

The word “gospel” comes from the Greek word euangelion, which means “good news.” In the Bible, the Gospel refers to the best news ever shared—the story of God’s love and His plan to rescue us through Jesus.
The Gospel Explained in 4 Simple Points
The gospel can be remembered and shared in four simple, powerful truths:
1. God Created Us to Be With Him
From the beginning, God created the world—and He made you, on purpose, for a relationship with Him.
Genesis 1:31 — God saw all that He had made, and it was very good.
You are part of God’s creation, and He takes joy in you. He made you in His image to walk with Him.
Genesis 1:27 — So God created man in His own image…
God didn’t create us because He needed us—but because He wanted us. That alone is good news. He desires to walk closely with you, as a friend and Father.
2. Sin Separated Us From God
Our relationship with God was broken through sin. The first act of disobedience (the Fall) happened when Adam and Eve turned away from God—and we’ve all done the same in our own ways.
Romans 3:23 — For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Sin includes things like selfishness, pride, anger, lying—anything that goes against God’s perfect nature. No matter how good we try to be, we can’t fix this separation on our own.
3. Jesus Came to Rescue Us
Here’s the best part: God didn’t leave us stuck.
He sent Jesus, His only Son, to live a perfect life, die for our sins, and rise again so that we could be saved and reunited with God.
Romans 5:8 – “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Jesus took the punishment we deserved. Through His death and resurrection, He made a way for us to be forgiven, restored, and set free. This is the Good News—this is the Gospel.
4. We Get to Choose: Will You Trust Him?
God gives us the choice to accept His gift of salvation. It’s not something we can earn—it’s something we receive by faith.
Romans 10:9 – “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
It’s like being offered a gift—Jesus has already paid for it, and all you need to do is say “yes.” You don’t have to be perfect. You just need to believe.
How to Say “Yes” to Jesus
If you’re ready to follow Jesus today – congratulations! This is the the most life-changing moment of your life.
You don’t need fancy words—just faith and a willing heart. Here’s a simple prayer you can say:
Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I admit that I need You, and I want to follow You. Please forgive me, make me new, and help me live for You. I give You my life. Amen.
Remember: It’s not the prayer that saves you—it’s your faith in Jesus.
