Welcome back to Week 5, Part 2 of our Unshakable series, Standing Against the Enemy! Last time we talked about knowing who you are in Christ and using God’s word as your weapon against the enemy’s lies. If you missed it, I highly recommend going back and reading Part 1 here because it sets the foundation for everything we’ll cover today. If you are new to this series, first know that I am so happy that you’re here, and second, you can check out the entire 6-week series here.
Now that we know how to recognize the enemy’s tactics and stand in our God-given authority, let’s talk about what it looks like to live from victory, not strive for it.

Standing against the enemy – SUBMIT TO GOD
James 4:7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Authority flows from submission. James 4:7 says that the devil will flee because we are aligned with God. True power flows from our alignment with God, not from our own strength. Submitting to God means inviting Him into every area of our lives: our thoughts, habits, struggles, work, and plans. It’s choosing dependence over control. So what does that look like day-to-day?
- Stay dependent on the Lord through the good and the bad.
- Confess sin quickly and walk in repentance.
- Stay connected through prayer, worship, and obedience.
- Give God the glory even in the small things.
By submitting, we’re saying, “God, You’re in control, not me.” That is when the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, comes in, and the enemy loses his grip.
Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

PUT ON THE ARMOR OF GOD DAILY
Some days, it feels like the enemy’s attacks come from every direction. Frustration, discouragement, distraction, doubt, fear. I have a habit of overcomplicating things when this happens. God has given us spiritual armor to protect and strengthen us.
Ephesians 6:11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
Armor Checklist:
- Belt of Truth — Know and speak God’s truth.
- Breastplate of Righteousness — Walk in integrity and guard your heart.
- Shoes of Peace — Stand firm in God’s peace.
- Shield of Faith — Block fiery darts of doubt and fear.
- Helmet of Salvation — Protect your mind with the assurance of who you are in Christ.
- Sword of the Spirit — Speak God’s Word with authority.
We’re not meant to go into battle unprepared, and we should be preparing spiritually each day, not just when we’re under fire.

PRAY WITH AUTHORITY
Remember, we are not fighting for victory, because of Jesus’ death on the cross, we get to fight from victory! Thank you, Lord! As we talked about in Week 1, God has given each one of us authority to trample snakes.
- Pray Boldly. Declare victory in Jesus’ name. You already stand on the winning side.
- Rebuke any fear, confusion, or temptation when it tries to creep in.
- Declare God’s promises over your life, home, and family, and your circumstnaces.
- Bind the enemy’s attempts and loose God’s will (Week 3 and Matthew 18:18)
1 John 5:14-15: And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.
God says that our prayers have power when they are aligned with his will and prayed with faith. When He hears us, He moves.

LIVE IN COMMUNITY
Matthew 18:20 Where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am among them.
We’re stronger together, and the enemy knows it. That’s why he tries to isolate us. Don’t let him. If you are not in a small group, I encourage you to get connected. God created us for community, and we know from last week that there is power and strength in unity. When we pray, worship, and share life with other believers, we remind one another of the truth and lift each other when things get hard.
If I hadn’t joined my first small group, I would not be where I am today in my faith walk. God has done so much in my life and blessed me so much more than I deserve. It makes me so excited to think about where he’s leading me next! If you need help finding a small group, message me and I’ll see if I can help!
This Week’s Challenge
This week, take time each morning to:
- Pray submission over your day. Tell God, “I give You control.”
- Put on your armor. Speak each piece out loud as you prepare for your day.
- Declare truth. Whenever a lie or doubt creeps in, respond with Scripture.
- Stay connected. Reach out to your small group, a prayer partner, or a trusted friend for encouragement.
Remember, the enemy only holds as much power as we let him. Stand firm in truth, walk in peace, and live from victory!

BEFORE YOU GO
I’d love to be praying for you this week as you take these truths to heart. Leave me a comment below and let me know how I can lift you up in prayer.
Together, let’s keep standing unshakable in the strength and victory of Christ.
