It’s no surprise that cozy content creators have me in a chokehold whenever I’m scrolling. I can’t resist a cozy spot layered with textures glowing in the light of a freshly lit candle, preferably on a rainy day with a steamy mug of coffee or latte in hand.
I have a passion for school and office supplies too, so when someone shares a photo of a Bible surrounded by notepads, highlighters, and favorite pens, I’m watching in awe. I love taking extra time to make my space warm and inviting for quiet time with the Lord.
But some days, that’s just not possible—and thankfully, Jesus doesn’t expect it either.
While it’s wonderful to have a set routine for spending time with Him, our relationship with God isn’t meant to be a box we check off a to-do list. He wants to be with us through every moment of the day.

Most mornings, I start with Jesus. Some days it’s a quick “Good morning and thank You for today” before my feet hit the floor. Other days, it’s an unhurried hour of reading and studying His Word. The point is the same: I want to walk with Him no matter what the day looks like.
God doesn’t need us to come with the perfect setup, hair and makeup done, or anything Instagram-worthy. In fact, Micah 6:8 tells us exactly what He desires: “To act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”
So how do we walk with Him all day, every day—whether we’re rushing out the door or have time to linger in His Word? Here are a few simple, everyday ways:
- Whisper a short prayer while making coffee or driving to work.
- Pause to thank Him for a small blessing—a kind text, a pretty sky, a quiet moment.
- Listen to worship music on your commute, while you’re putting the dishes away, or whatever chores your day brings.
- Listen to an encouraging podcast while you get ready for the day.
- Keep a favorite verse on a sticky note where you’ll see it often.
- End the day by reflecting on where you noticed God’s presence.
- Read a short devotional.
- The YouVersion App has a daily refresh and quick guided scriptures and prayers that you can enjoy.
- Journal a quick gratitude list while having your morning coffee.
- Sketch or doodle a favorite verse in the margin of your planner or notebook
- Write a short prayer letter to God before bed.
- Create a “verse of the week” card and display it on your desk or where you might see it often, like the sink for me. 🙂
- Pray through a Psalm and turn the words into your own conversation with Him.
- Pray for each room and the people who use them as you tidy or do chores.
- Turn the radio off and talk to God while driving in silence, listen more than you talk.
- Bless your meals out loud, thanking Him for provision.
- Every time you wash your hands, say a prayer.
- Pause for a deep-breath prayer before answering texts or emails. Sometimes, just “Jesus” is all you need to say.
- Send a quick “thinking of you” message with a verse to encourage a friend.
- Pray for people you pass as you’re out and about.
- Go for a prayer walk.
- Go for a gratitude walk and thank God for what you notice around you: sky, falling leaves, etc.
- Read a bible story to your kids and talk about it.
- Join a small group, Bible Study, or a monthly challenge to share life and scripture and deepen your faith.
- Pray for coworkers or classmates during lunch or a coffee break.
- Sit outside for five minutes and be in God’s creation.
- Plant or water a houseplant while reflecting on God as our sustainer.
Walking with God isn’t about a perfect atmosphere. It’s about a heart turned toward Him in the ordinary and the beautiful alike.

Just choose one or two of these ideas that naturally fit into your day and let them become gentle reminders of God’s presence—and of His loving invitation to a relationship with you.
Think about how you get to know your closest friends: you spend time with them. God desires the same with us! What a gift that we can walk with Him every day, in every moment, no matter where we are or what we’re facing.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. What are some of your favorite ways to spend time with God—whether you have just a few minutes or a whole afternoon?
